However, when an emergency occurs, knowing which specialized medical professional to contact might be more difficult than one would assume. Below are a couple practical methods to find the right specialized professional for your child’s healthcare.

Primary Care Referrals

While professionals in pharmacy positions and generalized medical positions play a vital role in your child’s health, medical specialists are the most important during times of emergency. Generally, when your child is experiencing an ailment that their primary care physician cannot care for, you will receive a referral to a specialist. Specialists consist of anything from cardiologists and pediatricians, to respiratory therapists. In your pursuit of a particular specialist for your child, the most simple and commonly used route is through a referral from a primary care physician.

Internet

The Internet is another valuable tool to turn to when looking for a specialized professional for your child. There are many resources available online that can lead you in the right direction. Among the most popular of these resources is a search engine query. Simply typing a particular ailment that your child is suffering from into a search engine will turn up pages of results with information about the ailment as well as the professionals who treat it.

Securing Your Child’s Health

There is nothing more important to a good parent than the health of their child. From the day the child is born, the parents begin looking out for its best interest. Child care requires constant attention and continuous study on what the latest health findings are.

Infants

It doesn’t matter if it is your first child or fifth, a newborn baby will take up your entire schedule. The feedings, bathing, diaper changing and all night bouncing when the baby just can’t sleep are all part of the package. If a woman is not breast-feeding the child, then the formula she uses and its nutritional value is important. Look into it and see what the doctors think about it. After a diaper change or a bath, the baby’s skin needs to be taken care of. An infant’s skin is very sensitive and needs baby oil and powder.

Toddlers

Once your child is up and running around, there will be a lot of falls and accidents. This is normal and rarely results in a major injury, however, it’s always a good idea to have a children’s hospital near by. Take your toddler in for regular fitness and nutritional check ups. The doctors can help guide you through your child’s specific dietary needs.

Older Children and Teenagers

Once your child is older, you will need to focus on fitness and good eating habits. Children and teenagers love sugar and processed foods. If you don’t watch them, they can go overboard. In the U.S., 3 out of 4 children are obese or overweight. In the last 30 years, obesity in children has tripled.

Get a check up for your children regularly. If you are short on cash, get a payday advance. It’s really easy and your child’s health is worth it.

Prolonged Bottle Use Makes Obese Kids With Bad Teeth

Temple University Ambler

Researchers are finding that childhood obesity is the cause of many serious side-effect maladies that can change life (for the worse) for a child. They believe there is evidence that shows babies who are allowed to stay on the bottle over a year are at risk of being overweight and having dental health problems later on.

The researchers from Temple University offer the suggestion that the bottle should be taken away from the baby at the age of 12-14 months. Actually, as soon as the child can drink from a cup is a more accurate answer.

It’s Tough to Wean a Toddler, but it’s Healthy for Them

It’s easy to give in to an angry one-year-old who screams for their bottle, and they can scream much longer than we think they can. It would behoove a parent to think of other ways to soothe the child ahead of time, so they aren’t caught off-guard by the amount of crying that weaning ensues.

The Temple Center for Obesity Research and Education conducted a study (one of many) with 6,750 Ohio children who were born in 2001. Their findings were:

  • 1 in 5 kids used the bottle until age two; mainly for drinking and at bedtime.
  • All the children were measured at age 5 ½ and 23% of them were already obese.
  • Of the group of children that were weaned off the bottle much earlier, only a little over 16% began the struggle with obesity.
So there does seem to be some correlation between obesity, poor dental health and prolonged bottle usage.

Keeping Your Child Safe

As a parent, child safety is a primary concern. So how do you ensure that your daycare provider maintains a safe and healthy environment for your child? Unfortunately there is no sure fire method to ensure your child’s safety when they are out of your care.

Most reputable day care providers are happy to answer any questions you have about the safety of the day care environment. If your child is injured at a day care, you may have a personal injury claim against the day care facility.  The only way to know for sure is to contact an attorney, such as injury attorneys in Los Angeles.

Here are a number of things to look for when shopping for a daycare provider that indicates a dedication to health and safety.

Facilities

  • Ask to see the day care license and the most recent inspection.
  • First aid kits and emergency numbers should be posted throughout the facility. How frequently are kits replenished?
  • Do staff members know where the fire extinguishers are located?
  • Are there gates at the top and the bottom of every staircase and guards on every window except for fire exits?

Staffing

  • Know what your state law provides for child-to-staff ratios. The most common ratio is 3 to 1 for infants; 4 to 1 for 2-year –olds; and 7 to 1 for 3-year-olds and older.
  • Ask how caregivers are screened? Are criminal background checks done?

Health Care – A New Approach

Consulting a doctor or visiting a hospital has become a part and parcel of our daily life because diseases and illness cannot be avoided. From earlier days itself health care was of immense importance. There were family doctors and famous medical experts in a village or locality. Now, the only difference is that health care has turned into an industry or a large-scale business. Multi-speciality hospitals and small clinics, all are running profitably with thousands of patients rushing in every single day. This is not only for adults, but also for infants, toddlers and children.

Children’s hospital is a new concept which has emerged recently. With due importance to child care, these hospitals provide health care facilities especially for children. It is a fact that many a time emergency situations make parents tensed and confused on what to do and so most of the families with children prefer to stay in the central part of cities, where health care facilities are easily reachable. The establishment of children’s hospital at different parts of the city, state and country will surely be helpful for people. The service from specialized doctors will ensure correct diagnosis and timely treatment for children, who are more prone to illness or injuries in their age.

It is not easy to find experts and well experienced doctors when it comes to child care. Generally hospitals hire good doctors and provide quality services. What people expect from hospitals is a calm atmosphere, neatness and cleanliness and a systematic approach in its functioning. Nowadays most of the hospitals have in-patient facilities, scanning centres and pharmacies, which makes it easier for patients to carry out the prescribed tests inside the hospital itself. Whatsoever, we cannot think about a world without hospitals and health care centres and its importance will only increase in future, with the development of new technologies and treatment methods.

But now, married couple sets aside some time for themselves and once they are ready to take the responsibility, and when they are stable financially and settled in a place and career, they think of having children. This trend has magnified the aspect of child care.

Health And Fitness For Children

There is a common notion among elders that nutrition, health and fitness is meant for adults. We cannot say that it is completely inappropriate to think that way. One generation back, children were unique for their high physical activity and energy all day long. They used to eat healthy home-made food and spend most of their time playing with neighborhood kids of the same age group. Even at school, except for the hours of class time, you could see all of them outside in the playground. At that time, there was enough activity for children that none thought of exercises and fitness programs for children.

Lifestyles have changed a lot and the new trend of living in apartments in a building than single houses has limited children’s activities to inside their homes. Now most of the kids after returning from school sit in front of television, computer or video games and spend their leisure time without much physical activity. Games and sports are now intentionally included in the curriculum to make children participate. The popularity of junk foods has spread not only among elders but children love them too. Unhealthy eating habits has led to unusual weight gain and the physical features of children like weight and height is abnormal, making them more susceptible to diseases and increasing risk of obesity at such young age.

To suit the present living conditions, healthy and nutritious diet and a regular exercise routine is very essential to take care of children’s health. Yoga, martial arts or aerobic lessons should be included in your kid’s daily routine to ensure their health. This will help them to fight against gaining unnecessary fat, and keep their body.
